What awaits you in this course?
You
probably can not imagine our everyday life without digital media. We
google for information and look at Wikipedia, if we do not know
anything. We do our holiday bookings online, skype with our friends and
find communities in social networks. Almost daily, we learn about new
possibilities that bring us closer to the world and make our everyday
life easier. But then we hear of computer viruses, identity theft and
internet crime and we feel insecure and threatened.
Am I really competent in dealing with digital media?
What information from the Internet can I trust? What do I have to
consider when I post my own texts, photos or videos in a wiki or blog?
How do I act correctly in a social network? How do Twitter, Facebook and Co. work? How useful are free software (open source) and free content
(open content) for me personally, or for my work? You can answer all
these questions after completing our course "Digital Literacy".
